You know the saying that when you travel, your soul comes on horseback?
I was in Iceland with my daughter, in 2004. We arrived on a beautiful day and went to the Blue Lagoon on our way to Reykjavik. Fantastic, very relaxing, never done anything like that before. We continued to the city, and checked in in our hotel. The next day we spend the day in the town. Lovely, friendly people, nice shops, beautiful cathedral, interesting scenery, it was again fantastic, but still we had to pinch ourselves: we are in Iceland. Do you realise we're in Iceland? No, I can't imagine... I'm sure you know the feeling.
The next day we picked up our car, to make a trip round the island in two weeks. Driving out of Reykjavik we found our way towards Thingvellir, and drove in that direction. Somehow we took a wrong turning, well, wrong? After a few hundred metres we stumbled upon the most breathtaking view ever.
We had arrived in Iceland. Did we hear a horse, galloping away?
