Although I have never been to Iceland or travelled anywhere outside England, Iceland has inspired me to learn about the world. I'm 15 years old and started to become interested in Iceland when I was around 11 years old. I wanted to learn more about its geology, language and history. The stunning landscape has made me want to study geology at college and university, perhaps leading to a career in earth sciences. Being home taught, I can focus on learning more about Iceland and science than if I was at school. I'm going to Iceland in April 2011 just before I turn 16 to see the country I love. It's not very often in the 21st century you see a country so untouched by humans so this makes Iceland a very special place. I hope that the economic crisis and Eyjafjallajökull eruption won´t lose this unique country of fire and ice its popularity.
This country has given me a new lease of life, wanting to learn about the world and how nature can interact with people. I'm sure Iceland will live up to my expectations when I visit; I hope to visit more maybe even live in Iceland in the future.
